The geotechnical laboratory of the SPb NIII EIZ OJSC (accreditation certificate of the test laboratory: No. РОСС RU.0001.517644 of November 27, 2009.) has state-of-the-art-equipment.
The institute got its first fixed geotechnical laboratory in the middle of 1937. Over the years, the management and composition of the laboratory changed many times but its main fields of work, which are laboratory investigations of ground and surface and ground water, have remained unchanged.
The laboratory offers a complete range of examinations of physical and mechanical properties of ground, standard chemical analysis of water, and analysis of metals in the ground. The laboratory has the following state-of-the-art equipment, in particular:
- Shimadzu АА-7000 dual-beam atomic absorption spectrophotometer for flame and electrothermal atomic absorption analysis enabling highly sensitive analysis of soil, ground, and water;
- ASIS-1 measurement and calculation system for automated laboratory examinations of mechanical properties of non-frozen silty-clayed and sand grounds using compression and single-plane cut methods.
The geotechnical laboratory is upgraded on a regular basis with extension of the certified competency area.
